(and I'm not saying that in the creepy demetri martin way).

a note, about humor, and being funny.

If you start a sentence with, "do you want to hear something funny?"

"I don't think you really love me" isn't a good punchline.

and for the guys, a corollary: if you don't really love a girl, don't say, "I love you".

I am female. by toxicfur (4.00 / 3) #2 Tue Nov 27, 2007 at 09:48:16 PM EST
And I agree with this post. I used to say "I love you" to (some) people (males and females -- I didn't discriminate) to get them in to bed. It worked, but then they wouldn't leave. That was a problem. Fortunately, I'm now in a relationship without all of that sort of bullshit, and it's astoundingly nice.

so true on so many levels.

Like the cat that followed us around the neighborhood Sunday night, and ran into our house when we opened the door. Pretty cat, but had a collar with a number, not ours. Put him back out, but every time we opened the door, kitty came running to get in..

who brief googling has failed to identify, you don't pay a prostitute to have sex with you, you pay her to leave afterward.

i discriminate to whom I say I love you by cicero (4.00 / 1) #19 Wed Nov 28, 2007 at 02:50:36 PM EST
but this wasn't about getting anyone into bed. it was about slipping back into a pattern of being in love.  I don't think I've ever said I love you to get a woman into bed.

hrm, that might not be true.

Love everyone. by muchagecko (4.00 / 2) #3 Wed Nov 28, 2007 at 12:19:03 AM EST
Kind of takes the specialness out of the whole "I love you" schtick, but it works.

And before you ask, loving everyone doesn't mean you have sex with everyone.

I like the way Demetri Martin says 'hello ladies'.

Funny peculiar, not funny ha-ha.

I refer you to the lyrical talents of Mr. Neil Hannon on the matter.
